How does the Botox treatment work? |

| Toxic botulinum type A (Botox) is a highly specific, locally operating and muscle relaxing substance. Within the muscle it attaches itself only to those neural connectors which are responsible for impulse transmission to the muscle. It binds to the neural connectors and releases a part of a protein which blocks the detachment of messenger substances responsible for impulse transmission. As a result the corresponding muscle can no longer be activated and stays relaxed. |
